Papa Stronsay dig 2000 web site, Sponsored by
Islands Network Services
Papa Stronsay is a small island just to the north of Stronsay, one of Orkney's northern isles. Although Papa is small it has played a large part in Orkney's history.
To find out more about this history, a team of archaeologists from Birmingham University and Headland Archaeology will be working on Papa Stronsay this summer to continue the work carried out over the last few years. The work is concentrated on the St Nicholas' chapel.
To see some of last years work and get an overview of the work done so far, click on the "Prologue" link below. The links to the individual days pages will be live from day one but the actual pages will only be uploaded at about 9pm GMT after the team come back from a hard days work on Papa Stronsay. Day one starts on Friday 7th July 2000. There will be no activity on Papa Stronsay on Sundays.
Please note that each page contains at least two large pictures so please be patient and also note that all of the photographs used on this web site are subject to Crown Copyright.
